Expressions of Interest are invited for the Clinical Senate in the ACT
Expressions of Interest are invited from senior and junior nursing, medical and allied health clinicians, academics and consumers to become members of the ACT Government Health Directorate Clinical Senate.
Role of the Clinical Senate:
The purpose of the Clinical Senate is to provide evidence based advice on issues relating to the coordination of multidisciplinary care to the Local Hospital Network and Medicare Local, with the aim of improving patient care outcomes. The Senate will fulfil the requirement under the reform of the Australian health system for the ACT to have a Lead Clinician Group.
The Clinical Senate will consider matters such as the integration of patient centred care pathways, the implementation of national clinical guidelines and standards and strategies to improve the quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability of clinical services.
Applications for the Clinical Senate are invited from:
• The private and public sectors, hospital and community clinicians;
• Universities/academic institutions; and
• Consumer groups.

1. An understanding of current key clinical issues
2. Leadership and communication skills and a willingness to engage in constructive discussion
3. A good understanding of the Health services in the ACT and the National Health Reform agenda.
