Updated Pneumovax 23 revaccination recommendations
Pneumovax 23 vaccine is used to prevent life-threatening infections caused by pneumococcal bacteria.
In April 2011, following an increase in the reported number of adverse events after immunisation, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued advice to health professionals advising against the administration of a second or subsequent dose of Pneumovax 23.
The TGA has completed the review and has provided updated advice regarding revaccination with Pneumovax 23.
