The ACT Medicare Local in conjunction with the ACT Government Health Directorate invites Practice Nurses to participate in a fully funded training opportunity to increase their knowledge and awareness of the role they can play to promote and protect breastfeeding with patients in their practice.
Held over two afternoon workshops:
Option 1 – Sunday 19 and 26 February 2012 - 12:30 – 5:30pm
Option 2 – Tuesday 21 and 28 February 2012 – 12:30 - 5:30pm

MBBS DRANZCOG GradDipRuralGP Cert IV Breastfeeding Education (Community & Counselling) FRACGP, PhD Candidate UNSW Faculty of Medicine, Rural Clinical School.
This workshop will cover ways of communicating with mothers, motivational interviewing, the importance of breastfeeding, the anatomy and physiology of the breast, management of common problems and ACT focussed referral pathways and community resources.
These Breastfeeding Training workshops are fully funded under the ACT Breastfeeding Strategic Framework 2010-2015 with a total of 40 positions available (20 per workshop option). Certificates of Attendance will be distributed for RCNA self reporting.
