Winanggaay - Cultural Awareness Training

This event is for:

  • Indigenous Health PIP registered practice staff
  • All interested practice staff

Winanggaay – from the local Wiradjuri/Ngunnawal language -
to look, to listen and to learn.

A workshop on cultural awareness training, meeting the requirements of the Indigenous Health Practice Incentive Program.

Learning objectives:

  • To distinguish between cultural awareness and cultural safety
  • To recognise the need for correctly identifying the Indigenous status of patients
  • Identify steps your practice can take to improve cultural awareness within your practice
  • Implement step by step procedures for identifying and recording the Aboriginality of all patients with your practice
  • Increased awareness of some of the causes of poor health amongst the Aboriginal population of Australia and learn of local statistics
