What is the Aged Care Access Initiative Program?
The Aged Care Access Initiative (ACAI) aims is to improve access to primary care (GP and allied health services) for residents of aged care facilities through payment for clinical care provided by Allied Health Professionals in residential aged care facilities and a Practice Incentives Program for GPs.
What does the Aged Care Access Initiative Program do?
ACAI provides funding for low care, Commonwealth-supported residents of Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) to receive allied health services, for example podiatry, dietetics, speech pathology, exercise physiology and counselling.
How can the Aged Care Access Initiative Program help you?
RACFs are encouraged to contact the Medicare Local to apply for funding for allied health services. GPs treating patients in residential aged facilities may contact the Medicare Local to discuss allied health needs of eligible patients.
What has the Aged Care Access Initiative Program achieved?
Funding and supporting the delivery of a wide range of allied health services to aged care facilities across the ACT.
