Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP)

The Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP) started on 1 January 2012 and provides incentive payments to accredited practices to support an expanded and enhanced role for nurses working in general practice.

The PNIP aims to simplify financing arrangements by consolidating funding arrangements under the Practice Incentive Program (PIP) Practice Nurse Incentive and six of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) practice nurse items and redirecting them into a single payment to eligible general practices.

From December 31, 2011 the following MBS Practice Nurse Items are no longer be available: 10993, 10994, 10995, 10996, 10998 and 10999.

Practices are able to apply for the Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP) via the PNIP Online System, available from Health Professional Online Services (HPOS).
